Providing Down Payment Assistance to Home Buyers, GiftAmerica, is a non-profit 501 (C) (3) public service charity administered by GiftAmerica Program, Inc.

GAP was organized with the purpose of offering grants to low and moderate income homebuyers who may not otherwise have the necessary cash to afford a home purchase.

The GiftAmerica Program, is a down payment assistance program designed not only for first time buyers, but also for move-up buyers who may not have sufficient equity or savings to afford the "move-up" purchase.

GiftAmerica was formed in response to the President's directive to make home ownership available to all Americans. Professionals from various areas of real estate, business and education organized the charity for purposes of advancing home ownership and community revitalization across the nation. Contributions obtained from property owners, builders, developers and various segments of the real estate profession fund the program.

Eligible homebuyers who meet the program's requirements receive "gifts" in the form of cash at settlement for down payment assistance and closing cost help. The gifts come from a pool of money that is created by private contributions to the program. The gifts do not come directly from the Seller of the property that is being purchased, nor does GiftAmerica receive any government funding.

Home Sellers who enroll their homes in the program make them eligible for purchase by the GiftAmerica homebuyers who receive the gift funds.
